--- title: "Telegram TV apps compared: TMPlayer and alternatives" description: "Telegram TV apps compared: TMPlayer, Tevegram, Echogram and more. The old TMP - Telegram Media Player is no longer on Google Play." url: https://tmplayer.org/alternatives/ --- # Telegram TV apps, *compared* Telegram makes no app for televisions, so watching your Telegram videos on a TV takes an app from someone else. These are the ones we found, what each one is and what it costs. Updated 19 October 2026 [Download TMPlayer](https://tmplayer.org/download/) [See the table](https://tmplayer.org/alternatives/#compare) [Looking for TMP?](https://tmplayer.org/alternatives/#tmp) ## Three kinds of app Every app on this page is unofficial, except Telegram's own desktop app. ### Full Telegram clients for TV Your chats and messages on the big screen, laid out for a remote, with the videos among them. ### Players for your chats They sign in to your own account and list the videos in your chats and channels, without the messages. TMPlayer is one of these. ### Casting from a phone A player on your phone sends the video to a Chromecast or a TV with Google Cast, and the phone stays in charge. [Casting and mirroring, compared](https://tmplayer.org/guides/telegram-on-tv-without-casting/). Casting from TMPlayer and from Telegram's own app: [the casting guide](https://tmplayer.org/guides/cast-telegram-videos-to-chromecast/). A Samsung or LG TV: [what works there](https://tmplayer.org/guides/telegram-on-samsung-or-lg-tv/). ## Looking for TMP - Telegram Media Player? It is a different app. This is what its store pages showed when we checked. TMP - Telegram Media Player is an app by the developer T.M.P for watching Telegram videos on Android TV and Fire TV. TMPlayer is a separate, unrelated, open source project, with its own code and its own developer. - Its Google Play page (com.tmp.com) returned "not found" when checked on 19 October 2026. - Its last archived Google Play listing, from December 2020, showed version 10.0.21, updated on 6 October 2020. - Its [Amazon Appstore listing](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088DY5LTT) is still up: version 10.0.25, rated 2.2 out of 5 from 3,219 ratings. ### Moving to TMPlayer TMPlayer installs on an Android TV, Google TV or Fire TV with the free Downloader app, and signs in to your own Telegram account with a QR code from your phone. There is nothing to carry over: your chats and videos are in your Telegram account. [Read the comparison](https://tmplayer.org/alternatives/tmp-telegram-media-player/) ### TvGramPlayer A paid Telegram client with a media player and Google Drive, next to TMPlayer. [Read the comparison](https://tmplayer.org/alternatives/tvgramplayer/) ### Telegram's own apps on a TV No TV app from Telegram: sideloading, casting and Telegram Web, next to TMPlayer. [Read the comparison](https://tmplayer.org/alternatives/telegram-app/) ## What TMPlayer does differently Only what the table shows; several apps above do the rest too. ### Free, with nothing to buy No ads of its own, no paid tier, no trial and no subscription. Every feature works for everyone. ### Open source, built in public The code is public under the GPL-3.0, and GitHub builds every release from that public code, with a checksum for each file. ### One app on every screen It is the only app in this table that runs on Android phones, Android TVs and Windows, Linux and macOS computers alike. ### No server, no bot It signs in through TDLib, Telegram's own library, straight to Telegram. Nothing passes through a server of ours, and there is no bot to add. ![A show's page in TMPlayer on a phone: the demo series Skybound Academy with its artwork, its overview and a button to resume the second episode.](https://tmplayer.org/screenshots/phone-show.webp) **On an Android phone** A show's page with its artwork, its overview and a button to resume. ![The TMPlayer chat list on Android TV, with the bar of Search, Home, Chats and Settings along the top.](https://tmplayer.org/screenshots/tv-chats.webp) **On a TV** Your chats and channels, laid out for the remote. ![The TMPlayer desktop app on Windows or Linux: a chat's demo videos as posters, each with its year, size and resolution, with the chat's name floating at the top and its bar of actions at the foot.](https://tmplayer.org/screenshots/desktop-grid.webp) **On a computer** A chat's videos as posters, played through mpv. Like several apps here, it also signs in with a QR code, plays MKV videos with their subtitles and every audio track, and casts to a Chromecast or Google TV. [Everything it does](https://tmplayer.org/features/). ## On Apple TV? TMPlayer does not run on Apple TV, and it casts to a Chromecast or Google TV, not over AirPlay. On Apple TV, the apps we found are [Tevegram](https://apps.apple.com/app/id6477915879), where videos need Premium ($2.99 a month, $5.99 a year or $13.99 lifetime), and [tv for Telegram](https://apps.apple.com/app/id6642679198) ($1.99, plus in-app purchases). ## More help TMPlayer does not provide media: it plays what is already in your own chats and channels. [The questions](https://tmplayer.org/faq/) cover what it can and cannot see. ### Support TMPlayer TMPlayer has no ads of our own (Telegram's sponsored messages appear in public channels, as Telegram requires) and no paid tier. If it saves you some bother, a coffee or a monthly sponsorship pays for the time that goes into it. It is voluntary and unlocks nothing: every feature is free for everyone.
