Questions, and the honest answers
Including the ones that are really about trust rather than about the app. A player that signs into your Telegram account should be able to answer those first.
Common questions
Every row is closed to start with. Nine questions are short enough to scan as nine headings, and opening one on load would only tell you which answer I think you wanted.
Do I have to wait for the video to download?
No. It starts in seconds and downloads while you watch. If your connection cannot keep up, a setting in the app will fetch the whole video first instead.
Is there a server or a bot involved?
Neither. The TV talks to Telegram directly, signed in as you through Telegram's own official library. Nothing passes through anything of mine.
Which file do I download?
Download the universal APK. The same file works on every supported device, television or phone, including 32-bit and 64-bit ones.
Can I read my messages on it?
No. It only ever shows the videos in your chats. You cannot read, reply or send anything from it.
Does TMPlayer provide any media of its own?
No. It hosts, uploads, sells and recommends nothing. It shows the videos that are already in the chats and channels you have joined, and nothing else.
How much storage does it need?
One video at a time. When you start a new one the previous is cleared and the app tells you how much that freed, so an 8 GB TV stick is enough. Resuming a video you stopped half way through keeps the part already on disk.
Which video formats does it play?
MKV, MP4, AVI and TS, with embedded subtitles including image-based ones, and multiple audio tracks you can switch during playback.
How does it update if it is not in the Play Store?
The app checks GitHub for a newer release and offers to install it. Nothing is downloaded until you say yes.
Is TMPlayer affiliated with Telegram?
No. It is an unofficial, independent app, not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Telegram FZ-LLC. It uses TDLib, Telegram's own open source client library.

What it is
- A player for your own Telegram account, signed in through Telegram's own official library.
- A way to watch videos in the chats and channels you have already joined, without waiting for the whole file or moving it off a phone first.
- Free and open source. You can read every line and build it yourself.
What it is not
- Not a media service or channel directory. It hosts, uploads, sells and recommends nothing. There is no server and no bot.
- Not a Telegram app. You cannot read messages, reply, or send anything.
- Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Telegram FZ-LLC. What you watch, and where it came from, is your responsibility.
The privacy page says exactly what stays on the device and which services the app contacts. Lawful use says the rest.
