Telegram on a Samsung or LG TV
Samsung TVs run Tizen and LG TVs run webOS. Neither installs Android apps, so there is no Telegram app for them, and TMPlayer does not install on them either. These are the ways that do work.

Can I install Telegram on a Samsung or LG TV?
No. Telegram makes apps for Android, iPhone and iPad, Windows, macOS and Linux, and a web version, but none for Tizen or webOS, and the TVs' app stores do not take Android apps or APK files. The same goes for TMPlayer, which is an Android app on a TV.
What a Samsung or LG TV does have is an HDMI port, and on newer models Google Cast. Either one is enough to get the videos in your chats onto it.
What are the options?
For most people the easiest is a TV stick in the HDMI port: the TV gets an app you drive with its remote, and the phone is free.
Plug in a TV stick
An Android TV or Google TV stick, or a Fire TV Stick, in the TV's HDMI port gives it a system that installs TMPlayer. Sign in with a QR code, and the videos in your chats play with the stick's remote.
Cast from TMPlayer
TMPlayer on an Android phone or on a computer casts to a TV with Google Cast built in, or to a Chromecast plugged into it. The phone or computer keeps the controls.
Mirror the phone's screen
If the TV accepts screen mirroring, the phone's whole screen appears on it. It works with any app, but the phone stays busy and awake until the video ends.
Telegram Web in the TV's browser
The TV's web browser can open Telegram Web and sign in with a QR code. It is a page made for a mouse, and it plays only the formats the browser can decode.
| Way | What you need | Your phone | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plug in a TV stick | A TV stick with Android TV or Google TV on Android 8.0 or newer, or a Fire TV Stick on Fire OS 7 or newer. | Free once you have signed in. | The stick costs money, and TMPlayer is installed from its APK, not from the stick's app store. |
| Cast from TMPlayer | A TV with Google Cast built in, or a Chromecast in its HDMI port, on the same Wi-Fi as the phone or computer. | It sends the video and keeps the controls, so it stays on the Wi-Fi with the player open. | Many Samsung and LG TVs have no Google Cast, and TMPlayer does not cast over AirPlay. |
| Mirror the phone's screen | A TV that accepts screen mirroring, on the same Wi-Fi as the phone. | It stays awake on the video from start to finish, screen on and battery draining. | Calls and notifications show on the TV. The picture is the phone's screen sent again over Wi-Fi, so it is softer and can stutter, and you control it from the phone. |
| Telegram Web in the TV's browser | A web browser on the TV, and a QR code scanned with Telegram on your phone to sign in. | Free once you have signed in. | A page made for a mouse and keyboard, driven with a remote. Videos play only in the formats the TV's browser can decode, which often rules out MKV. |
Can I cast Telegram to a Samsung or LG TV?
Only to a newer one. Google Cast, the way a phone hands a video to a Chromecast, came to both brands' own TVs only lately:
- Samsung. Samsung lists Google Cast in the specifications of its 2026 TVs, and in April 2026 an update to its TV software was bringing it to some older models. Before that it was only on Samsung's TVs for hotels and businesses.
- LG. LG added Google Cast with its 2024 TVs, and updates brought it to its 2023 C3 and G3 OLED TVs and to some of its 2022 OLED TVs.
To see whether yours has it, look for Google Cast in the TV's specifications. A TV that has it should appear in TMPlayer's Cast list like any other Google Cast receiver. TMPlayer's casting has been tried on an Android TV stick, not yet on a Samsung or LG set.
If your TV has no Google Cast, a Chromecast or a Google TV stick in its HDMI port gives it one.
Which TVs have Google Cast built in?
What the makers' own pages or the press confirm, checked on 19 October 2026.
Google TV and Android TV sets
Sony says Google Cast works on its Google TV and Android TV models, not on its other TVs. Google names Hisense, Sony and TCL among its Google TV makers, and Philips lists Chromecast built-in for its Google TV sets.
Vizio
Vizio says its smart TVs have Chromecast built-in.
Samsung
Its 2026 models, and some older ones through an update.
LG
Its 2024 models, and some 2023 and 2022 OLED TVs through updates.
Any TV with HDMI
A Chromecast or a Google TV stick plugged into the HDMI port adds Google Cast to any TV.
Is screen mirroring good enough?
For a short clip, yes. For a whole episode it is the weakest way: the phone stays awake on the video from start to finish, calls and notifications show on the TV, and the picture is the phone's screen sent again over Wi-Fi, so it is softer and can stutter. Casting sends the video itself, and the TV plays the file.
Can I use Telegram Web on a Samsung or LG TV?
You can open Telegram Web in the TV's browser and sign in by scanning its QR code with Telegram on your phone. It is a page made for a mouse and keyboard, driven with a remote, and videos play only in the formats the TV's browser can decode, which often rules out MKV.
So which should I pick?
- A TV stick if you want the TV to work on its own: TMPlayer on a stick plays from the remote, with subtitles, audio tracks and the next episode, and the phone is free.
- Casting if your TV has Google Cast, or you already own a Chromecast: nothing to install on the TV.
- Mirroring for a quick clip from any app.

Support TMPlayer
TMPlayer has no ads of our own (Telegram's sponsored messages appear in public channels, as Telegram requires) and no paid tier. If it saves you some bother, a coffee or a monthly sponsorship pays for the time that goes into it. It is voluntary and unlocks nothing: every feature is free for everyone.
